First, it’s important to remember that there’s no evidence that children are more susceptible to COVID-19. Most cases have involved adults, and the few cases that have involved children have produced milder symptoms.
Here are a few key pieces of advice when explaining Coronavirus to your children:
- Evaluate the situation — see how much they already know and how it makes them feel
- Be open and available for questions, allow expression of feelings and how to cope
- Remind your children to wash their hands properly, scrubbing for 20 seconds with warm water and soap
- Know resources and where to get help. This can be very stressful
