TeamSnap Secures $10 Million in Investor Funding

I’m thrilled to announce today that TeamSnap has received $10 million in new financing to help us solidify our position as the single must-have app parents and coaches turn to daily for every kind of sports team activity.

We will use this investment to build on our momentum from the past year, in which we’ve almost doubled our customer base to 9 million users. Thanks to you, our loyal fans, we are adding 10,000 new users a day across 196 countries. We interact with you active users an average of 40 times per month, and it seems you especially love our native mobile apps! The iOS app has a 4.7 out of 5 rating in the App Store and is consistently ranked among the App Store’s Top 10 Free Sports Apps.

We’re proud of the strides we’ve made over the past year. TeamSnap has truly become an indispensable tool for any sports parent or coach, in part thanks to feedback from all of you on what features you want to see, what problems you want solved and what additions you want in the app.

For example, we heard from parents that they wanted to know what was happening during games (especially travel tournaments) when they couldn’t be there, and we introduced TeamSnap Live!, which lets coaches, players and parents communicate in real time, any time, before during and after the game so everyone knows the score, on the sidelines or away from the field. We heard that parents, players and coaches wanted an easier way to receive information from their clubs and leagues, and we launched Website Builder, which lets clubs and leagues easily build professional, flexible and mobile-ready public websites, making it simple for everyone to get the info they need immediately.

This investment was led by Northgate Capital and the Colorado Impact Fund, with participation from new investors Crawley Ventures, plus existing investor the Foundry Group. It will enable us to grow faster and bring you more great features and services. We’re thrilled that these amazing partners share our vision for TeamSnap becoming the unifying sports team platform and marketplace for sports-related products and services.
