How 2020 Affected Youth Sports

Research Study

TeamSnap has partnered with Utah State University and The Aspen Institute as an advisor for a research study exploring the impact the 2020 pandemic has had on youth sports, as well as hopes related to return to play.

Fun is the number one reason they have their kids in sports. Mental health was listed as the second goal for having their kids participate in sports.

Mental health has never been so important.

1 in 2 parents

say their child’s mental and physical well-being declined during the pandemic.

Screen time may be replacing play.

82% of parents suggested that their children’s screen time increased or greatly increased during the pandemic.

Parents trust and seek guidance from their communities.

73% of parents were satisfied or very satisfied with their child’s coach during the pandemic, compared to 32.6% with their country.
